About us
Ruka Nest was created around a simple idea: a Ruka holiday should feel easy, warm and close to nature.
Our four cabins — Naava, Varpu, Havu and Hilla — take their names from the northern forest. Naava is inspired by soft tree lichen, Varpu by the resilient shrubs of the forest floor, Havu by evergreen spruce branches, and Hilla by the golden cloudberry of the northern wetlands.
Together, they form a small collection of cozy forest nests in one of Finland’s best-known outdoor destinations. We want our guests to enjoy the comfort of a private cabin, the simplicity of self-check-in, and the freedom to step straight into Ruka’s slopes, trails, restaurants and nature.
Our aim is to offer accommodation that is practical, clean, welcoming and easy to enjoy — not a hotel, but a private home base for your time in Ruka.

Self check-in
All cabins have self check-in. Detailed arrival instructions are sent before your stay.
Final cleaning
Final cleaning is included in the booking price unless otherwise stated.
Bed linen and towels
Bed linen and towels are available on request for €25 per person, per stay, unless included in your booking. The linen fee is charged through the booking platform or other agreed payment method before arrival.
Parking
Free parking is available next to each cabin.
Electric car charging
Electric car charging is available at the public parking area near the cabins, approximately 100 m away. Availability, pricing and technical compatibility may vary.
Ski and gear storage
Each cabin has lockable outdoor storage suitable for skis, sleds and other outdoor equipment.
Children
The cabins are suitable for families. A cot may be available on request, subject to availability.
Pets
Well-behaved pets are welcome. Please mention pets when booking. 30€ pet fee will apply.
No front desk
The cabins are private self-catering accommodations. There is no reception or front desk on site.
Your hosts
Ruka Nest was born from our family’s love for Ruka.
We’re Anu and Toni, and for years Ruka has been much more than a holiday destination for us. What started with winter ski trips gradually became year-round adventures as we discovered downhill biking, hiking and everything that makes Ruka one of Finland’s most unique outdoor destinations.
In 2021 we found our own second home in Ruka. Since then, our weekends and holidays have been spent here, and our children have grown up skiing the slopes, exploring the forests and enjoying everything Ruka has to offer in every season. Over the years, Ruka has become a very special place for our family.
We always dreamed of creating a place where others could experience the same feeling that first brought us here. In 2025 we found the perfect property in Vuosseli, and Ruka Nest was born.
Today, Ruka Nest is a collection of four cozy ski-in cabins — Naava, Varpu, Havu and Hilla — inspired by the northern forest that surrounds them. Every cabin has been carefully prepared to offer the kind of stay we ourselves value: a peaceful location, easy access to the slopes, a private sauna after a day outdoors, a warm fireplace and the comfort of a true home away from home.
Our hope is simple. We want every guest to experience the same northern magic that made us fall in love with Ruka: endless outdoor adventures, peaceful forests, snowy winters, bright summer nights, colourful autumn days and some of the cleanest air and purest nature in the world.
